Access and Logistics

Winter Weddings – Doors Open or Closed?
In my opinion, there’s a reason you’ve opted for the boathouse. You are literally on natures doorstep and closing it off via the big glass doors is a shame! Your guests will have coats, and the room has really good heating. A shawl or wrap will be important for the bride though!
The hotel team will keep glass doors closed in the build up to the ceremony just to keep the elements away. Remind your celebrant and musicians (and photographer!) that you’d like the doors open or closed.
Working with your Photographer
The boathouse gives you options — tight, intimate framing inside the structure, or wider environmental shots that take in the bay and woodland. If you are planning portraits here, allow 15–20 minutes. That’s enough time to work the location properly without rushing.
Figure out a way to get your guests to leave you immediately after the ceremony and stay there. This is especially true if your party is at the Ring of Kerry Golf Club.
